Since the 1980s, Friendswood has grown considerably; the current population is nearing 42,000. Friendswood encompasses parts of two counties, northern Galveston and southern Harris County, divided by the popular Clear Creek. Clear Creek offers direct water access to the Gulf of Mexico through Clear Lake and Galveston Bay. The city is located 3 miles west of Interstate Highway 45, halfway between Houston and Galveston. Friendswood encompasses 21 square miles and is over 70% developed.

I am a lifelong resident of Friendswood and a graduate of Friendswood High School. I started building homes in Friendswood in 1994, which led to the formation of Sterling Builders in August 1997. Throughout my tenure in the home building industry, I gained a unique perspective on the families who choose to call Friendswood home. During that time I had the pleasure of working with new, returning, and current residents of our city. Over the years I gained a unique perspective on why people come to our town and of the challenges that have caused others to leave. Friendswood’s education system and the City’s commitment to public safety are among the biggest reasons for families to call Friendswood home. I want to see our city continue on the path of being the thriving bedroom community that it is.
